Arriving on the smallest of the 3 most popular islands of the Seychelles, means arriving in true Paradise. An island surrounded by stunning beaches and the iconic granite boulders. Because there are hardly any cars on La Digue, the main mode of transportation is cycling around the island. This for sure keeps the island flair and makes the island even more idyllic. If you’re looking for the best things to do on La Digue, from exploring breathtaking beaches to discovering local culture, this island has plenty to offer.
Reaching the island is easily possible by ferry. The journey from Mahe takes about an hour and 15 minutes, while the ferry from Praslin is just a quick 15 minute ride.
After settling in it’s time to start exploring. Here are some of the best things to do on La Digue:

Anse Source d‘Agent
Known to be one of the most photographed beaches in the world, Anse Source d‘Agent definitely deserves a place on your bucket list. Surrounded by the iconic granite boulders and palm trees. It’s the perfect beach to relax or snorkel as the waves are really calm.
To get to Anse Source d‘Agent you’ll have to enter L‘Union Estate. At the entrance you’ll have to pay a fee of 150 SCR per person. After you paid, they’ll give you a wristband to show you’ve signed in. Then you can continue riding your bike along the path, passing giant union rock. At the end of the road there is a place where you can park your bicycle. From there it’s a 10 minute walk to the beach. This is also the place where you can rent the famous crystal kayaks and paddle along the beach to see Anse Source d‘Agent from a different perspective.

rent Crystal kayaks
At Anse Source d’Argent, engage in glass-bottom kayaking to observe the vibrant marine life in the clear, shallow waters while enjoying panoramic views of the coastline and granite rock formations.
You can book this tour online for either 1,5 or 3 hours. We chose the 1,5 hour option, but keep in mind if you want to go to the famous photo spot you’ll need to choose the 3 hour tour. We paid 25€ per person. The office is right next to the spot where you can park your bikes. After booking the guide will text you all the details. As soon as you arrive, you can store the stuff you don’t need in a locker room and put your phone and camera in a waterproof bag. After enjoying a bit of fresh coconut it’s time to start paddling.
Because the kayak rental is located inside of L‘Union Estate and you already paid the entrance fee, I would advise you to make the most of it and combine the kayaking with a beach day afterwards or just watching the sunset to end the day.
visit Anse Patates
Anse patates is an idyllic, intimate white sand beach on the north coast of La Digue, perfect for those who are seeking a peaceful and less crowded experience. It is known for its stunning scenery, with pristine white sand, turquoise waters, and iconic granite boulders that are characteristic of the Seychelles.
It’s a perfect spot for relaxation or a quick swim, though it’s recommended to check the tides, as the water can be rough at times.

visit Grand Anse & Petite Anse
Grand Anse and Petite Anse are two stunning beaches on La Digue, Seychelles, known for their raw natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. Grand Anse, the larger of the two, boasts a wide stretch of powdery white sand, dramatic granite boulders, and turquoise waters, making it perfect for scenic walks or relaxing under the sun. While swimming here can be challenging due to strong currents, the scenery is breathtaking. Just a short hike away is Petite Anse, a smaller and quieter beach surrounded by lush greenery. It offers a more secluded vibe, ideal for those seeking solitude amidst pristine nature. Both beaches capture the essence of La Digue’s untouched charm.
Bike around the island
La Digue is not only the smallest out of the three main islands, it also has hardly any traffic. There are just a few cars on the island and with all of its scenic coastal roads the best way to get from A to B is by renting a bicycle. It’s the most popular way to explore La Digue’s scenic landscapes and charming villages at your own pace.
A lot of people rent bicycles directly at the port or some accommodation can organize bikes for you. We rented two bicycles and our Airbnb host organized everything. The bikes were dropped off at our Airbnb. We paid 100 SCR (around 7€) per bike per day.

Have Sunset Cocktails At Bikini Bottom
The perfect way to end a day on La Digue is by watching the sunset while enjoying a cocktail at bikini bottom. It’s a beach bar located at the northern part of the island. This brightly colored beach bar is hard to miss when you’re biking along Anse Severe. Just be aware the cocktails are pretty expensive in comparison to different places on the island, but nonetheless the location makes them worth it.
Get a delicious takeaway at Rey & Josh Cafe and takeaway
The most popular food spots in the Seychelles in general are local takeaways. Rey & Josh Cafe and takeaway are the best on La Digue. They change up their menu daily so it never gets boring. You can enjoy your food at the very nice seating area in front of the restaurant or you can take your food away and enjoy it someplace else. The prices are very reasonable and the food is very nice as well.
