Exploring the Seychelles and especially Praslin means visiting a lot of stunning white sand beaches surrounded by the iconic granite boulders, exotic wildlife and palm trees wherever you turn to. It’s the perfect place to just relax while listening to the waves, go snorkeling or just tan in the sun. Here are some of my favorite places to visit on Praslin:
Anse Georgette
Anse Georgette is one of the top beaches on the island. Located inside the Constance Lemuria Hotel but still open to the public. To visit you simply enter the hotel area after registration at the gate. There is no up front registration required to get in. To get to the beach you need to walk around 20 minutes through the golf course of the hotel. At the end you’ll be greeted by a stunning lagoon. The idyllic setting, with its soft sand and azure waters, makes it perfect for a peaceful day of relaxation and swimming.
Anse Lazio
Located north of the island you’ll find this picturesque beach. Consistently ranked among the world’s most beautiful beaches, Anse Lazio is a slice of paradise with its powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Framed by granite boulders and lush greenery, this beach is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. Arrive early to secure a spot, as it can get crowded during peak hours. Don’t forget to bring your snorkeling gear to explore the vibrant coral reefs just offshore.
You can reach the beach by bus or car. Although the 20 minute walk to the bus station is not the most pleasant. The bus route and schedules can be checked locally as they may change frequently. The easier and faster way is getting a rental car. There are two different parking lots, both you have to pay for. We chose the one closer to the beach and paid 150 rupee for the day.
Petite Anse Lazio
Located next to Anse Lazio you’ll find the lesser known Petite Anse Lazio. This definitely counts as a hidden gem worth visiting. When you walk all the way to the far right side of Anse Lazio you’ll find a small path in between lush jungle. It’s quite narrow and rocky in some parts. If you follow that path you’ll find Petite Anse Lazio. The Walk takes around 10-15 minutes. This small beach is my personal favorite. Because of its remote location it’s very quiet, especially in the morning – it feels like true paradise.
Day trip to Curieuse island
A must for turtle lovers is Curieuse Island. From Praslin it’s easy to take a daytrip including pick up and drop off from your accommodation. The tour starts at 8 in the morning. After picking everyone up at the different hotels around the island we board the boat heading to Curieuse. After arriving there at 10am you have an hour freetime to relax at the beach. At 11am the walk to the other way of the island starts. This trail is 1,6 km long and very easy to do. Along the way the guide will give you some information about the island. On the other side of the island the turtles are already waiting for you as well as some lunch.
Go snorkeling at St. Pierres Island
For an unforgettable diving and snorkeling experience, head to St. Pierre Isle. The islet’s waters are teeming with marine life, including colorful coral reefs, reef sharks, rays, and a plethora of tropical fish. Whether you’re an experienced diver or a novice snorkeler, the vibrant underwater world around St. Pierre is a mesmerizing sight to behold.
Our trip there was included in the tour we booked visiting Curieuse Island. This is the case most of the time but I’m sure there are separate tours as well.
Côte d’Or beach
This long stretch of sand is perfect for relaxation during the day or a leisurely evening stroll. The beach is lined with restaurants and bars where you can enjoy a refreshing cocktail while watching the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the Indian Ocean.
Explore the island and look for remote beaches
The best thing to do on Praslin is renting a car and just exploring. Along the way you`ll find so many remote beaches with zero people, beautiful scenery and a lot of places to stop at to enjoy the view.
explore praslin Waterfall
Located by the side of the road is Praslin waterfall. To get there you can park at a small parking spot also at the side of the road. To get to the actual waterfall you have to kind of find your own way through the jungle. It’s not far though. The waterfall is also already visible from the road.
visiting Vallee de Mai
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Vallée de Mai is often referred to as the “Garden of Eden.” This ancient forest is home to the rare Coco de Mer palm, which produces the largest seed in the plant kingdom. Wander through the reserve’s well-marked trails, and you’ll encounter a variety of endemic species, including the black parrot, Seychelles bulbul, and tiger chameleon. The serene ambiance and towering palms make it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.
Praslin, with its stunning landscapes, rich biodiversity, and welcoming culture, offers an array of activities that cater to every traveler’s desires. Whether you’re exploring the depths of the ocean, hiking through ancient forests, or simply lounging on a sun-kissed beach, this island paradise promises an unforgettable experience. Pack your bags and get ready to discover the enchanting beauty of Praslin, Seychelles.
