Manuel Antonio is surely the best of both worlds if you can’t choose between exploring unique wildlife and spending your time at stunning white beaches. The small coastal town is located on the west coast of Costa Rica around a 2 hour drive from the capitol San Jose. The area is mainly known for the famous national park. But this should not be the only reason to visit. Here are the top places to visit in Manuel Antonio:
Manuel Antonio National Park:
Manuel Antonio National Park was named one of the most beautiful national parks in Costa Rica despite being the smallest. Famous for its many animal and ecological variety. Even though the well-indicated trails make it super easy to navigate on your own, the guided tour is for sure worth it, to make sure you won’t miss any sleeping sloths up in the trees.
Manuel Antonio Beach:
Located inside of Manuel Antonio National Park you find Manuel Antonio Beach. A stunning stretch of white sand bordered by lush rainforest and turquoise waters. Because the beach is located in a bay the water is calm and perfect to swim and relax in. The beach offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and beachgoers alike.
Espadilla Beach:
To continue with the beaches, here is another top pick. Espadilla Beach being the main beach in Manuel Antonio with a long stretch of white sand surrounded by nature. During peak times (for example Weekends) the beach can get pretty busy around the main entrance. But if you walk to the right side no matter the time it’s true paradise. Being located on the west coast this beach becomes the go to spot for everyone once the sun starts to set.
Nauyaca Waterfall:
When planning your trip to Manuel Antonio make sure to include Nauyaca Waterfall. The waterfall consists of two enormous waterfalls on two different levels, surrounded by swimming areas to relax in after the 3 km hike. I’d recommend starting your journey from Manuel Antonio as early as possible to skip most of the crowds. Keep in mind that the drive takes you about 1,5 to 2 hours.
Catamaran Tour:
Time to relax and enjoy the beautiful shores of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Gear up with the provided snorkeling equipment for an incredible underwater adventure and finish your day with a sunset at sea. If you are lucky you might even see some dolphins.
